Insomnia - What You've Needed To Know All Along
How to stop Insomnia from putting a damper on your life
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Insomnia is a common medical disorder where people find it difficult to fall, or stay, asleep. 1 out of 3 people at your organization could be struggling with some form of insomnia on a nightly basis. People of all ages are susceptible to insomnia, although it is more common among older adults and women. Insomnia can occur for short periods of time – for instance a day or two - or the condition may be chronic and last for weeks, months, and even years.
A variety of physical and psychological factors as well as lifestyle choices can cause insomnia, including:
- Persistent stress
- Lack of exercise
- Sleep apnea
- Restless Leg Syndrome, or RLS (often confused with PLM, or Periodic Limb Movement)
- Heartburn
- Alcohol
- Caffeine or other stimulants
- Depression
