- What do you need to do:Come in the morning, soon after you wake up, and come in relaxed as we are testing your resting metabolism. No food, no caffeine, no smoking, no drugs like cold medicine (or recreational but do take your normal thyroid meds or blood pressure meds), and no exercise within 12 hours of your test.
